Hey, has anyone read "Song of Susannah" by Stephen King? If not, stop reading now because there's a SPOILER below.
At the end of Song of Susannah Stephen King begins to present an idea that, for me as a writer, is very alluring. Stephen King is a character in this book, and he meets Roland and Eddie. Through this meeting, Stephen King learns that the world he created when writing The Dark Tower, really exists! I love that. Eddie felt as though he was meeting a sort of god and was in awe, until he realized this King guy was responsible for killing off people he loved. LOL!
Doesn't this sound like a great premise for a story? I love the idea of thinking the people in my stories actually exist. Sometimes when I'm writing and I reach what I call "my flow" (when I'm fully emersed in the story world and it seems to be writing itself) I often wonder if I'm in control of the story or if the characters are! LOL! I think sometime, I'll work on a story about this. Different than King's of course, but something with the premise of the author's world being real. I know Stephen King isn't the first to do this, but I really like the way he pulled it off.
